Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with us

How are you regulated and is my money safe?

We are SEBI Registered Investment Advisors (RIA) with registration number INA000015581. We NEVER handle your money directly - all investments are made in your own name through your demat account with established platforms like Zerodha, Groww, or directly with AMCs. Your money always remains in your control.

What are your fees and how do you charge?

We charge a flat fee of ₹5,000 for initial financial planning and ₹15,000 per year for ongoing advisory (or 0.5% of AUM for portfolios above ₹30 lakhs, whichever is lower). We primarily recommend direct mutual funds which have no commissions. If we suggest regular plans for specific reasons, all commissions are disclosed upfront and adjusted against our fees.

What is the minimum investment amount to work with you?

There is no minimum investment requirement. We work with young professionals starting their first SIP of ₹5,000 per month as well as HNIs with crores in assets. Our advice is customized to your financial situation and goals.

How is working with you different from investing on my own?

While DIY investing is possible, we provide: 1) Professional asset allocation based on your risk profile, 2) Behavioral coaching to avoid panic selling/greed buying, 3) Tax-efficient investment strategies, 4) Regular rebalancing and monitoring, 5) Access to our research and market insights. Studies show advised portfolios outperform DIY investors by 2-3% annually due to better discipline.

What happens in our first consultation?

The first consultation (90 minutes) covers: 1) Understanding your current financial situation, 2) Defining short and long-term goals, 3) Risk profiling through detailed questionnaire, 4) Review of existing investments and insurance, 5) Initial recommendations and roadmap. You will receive a written financial plan within 48 hours.

Can you guarantee returns on my investments?

No advisor can or should guarantee returns as per SEBI regulations. Equity markets are volatile and past performance doesn't guarantee future results. However, we focus on disciplined, diversified investing that has historically delivered 12-15% returns over 5+ year periods. We provide realistic expectations based on historical data.

Do you only recommend mutual funds?

While mutual funds form the core of most portfolios due to professional management and diversification, we also advise on: 1) Direct equity for qualified investors, 2) Debt instruments like PPF, FDs, bonds, 3) Gold allocation through SGBs/Gold funds, 4) International diversification, 5) Insurance planning (term and health only, no ULIPs).

How often will we review my portfolio?

We conduct formal reviews quarterly with a detailed annual review. You also get: 1) Monthly market commentary and portfolio updates, 2) Alerts for rebalancing opportunities, 3) WhatsApp/email support for urgent queries, 4) Proactive communication during market volatility. You can also request additional reviews anytime.

I already have investments. Can you review them?

Yes, portfolio review is often our starting point. We analyze your existing investments for: 1) Overlap and concentration risks, 2) Expense ratios and exit loads, 3) Performance vs benchmarks, 4) Tax efficiency, 5) Alignment with your goals. We then provide a transition plan to optimize your portfolio while minimizing taxes and exit loads.

Do you provide tax planning and filing services?

We provide tax-efficient investment strategies including: 1) Section 80C planning through ELSS, 2) Capital gains harvesting, 3) Debt fund taxation optimization, 4) NRI taxation guidance. However, actual tax computation and ITR filing should be done through your CA. We can coordinate with them for seamless execution.

What if I want to stop the advisory service?

You can discontinue anytime with 30 days notice. There are no lock-ins or exit penalties. Your investments remain in your name and control. We provide a transition document with all your investment details and future action points. First consultation fee is refundable if you're unsatisfied within 7 days.

How do you select which mutual funds to recommend?

Our fund selection process involves: 1) Quantitative screening (5-year returns, Sharpe ratio, standard deviation), 2) Qualitative analysis (fund manager track record, investment philosophy), 3) Portfolio fit (avoiding overlap, maintaining diversification), 4) Cost analysis (expense ratios, exit loads). We review and update our recommended list quarterly.
